This blog will have an abundance of randomness! I will share some of my crafting, organizing and living green! Along with my experiences as a business owner and woman stuck with a bunch of boys!
I will go into more detail tomorrow when I finish the cloth diapering page but...we have a sprayer that attaches to the toilet that we use. Though older babies have more solid poop so you can just plop it in the toilet. For messier diapers though you just use the sprayer to rinse the poop off!
Okay, I hope this is the right place to leave a question about the cloth diapers!
Why do you chose pockets over AI2's? I know you mentioned AI2's are harder to add extra absorbency, is that the only difference between the two types? It seems that the AI2's would be the easiest since you don't need inserts and you can separate them to dry faster? You said it's harder to add more absorbency, but is it still possible? I have so much to learn, lol!
Jenni- Pockets are a little easier to find then AI2s to be honest. Yes they are a little harder to add extra absorbency. You would have to just lay an extra insert down under the snap in insert. Not impossible at all. As far as easy goes they are probably about the same. Although, you would have to be careful with what type of fabric insert you would use to add absorbency. Microfiber cannot touch babies skin so my only worry would be that the AI2 insert that is over the microfiber would move a little bit and cause the microfiber to touch babies skin. So I would use a terry insert or prefold for that just to be totally safe!
Michelle- When using a pocket diaper, the whole thing must be changed when the baby pees. If you are using a cover and a folded prefold or a fitted you would just change the prefold/fitted and wipe out the cover and use again!
That would depend on how often you want to wash. I would get a minimum of 10. You might be able to get away with washing every other day with that many but it would depend on how often your baby poops really LOL. I say this because...if you change a wet diaper and your baby poops in it right away then you have to change again and that would be 3 diapers in a short time. Before I got new dipes...I had about 12 pockets and washed every other day. Now I have like 12 pockets, 11 fitteds, and a couple covers on the way! :) Do you need any help finding them? If your comfortable with it, I HIGHLY suggest buying used!
Sorry if i'm asking dumb questions, i just want to make sure I "get" it. So when you go to wash the dirty ones, you seperate the inserts and the diaper and wash them together or do you wash them seperately?
No problem! I love to help! Ask away!! Yes what I do is shake the insert out into my pail and throw the pocket in the same pail. Then I just dump my whole pail into the wash. I would just suggest you definitely remove the insert so it doesnt ball up inside.
I may have briefly heard of them, the name sounds familiar. I have a really cheap diaper from ebay that works well...the only thing I don't like about it is that it has just a cotton inner so it doesn't wick away moisture and make the baby feel dry. If you want your baby to stay dry I would suggest just buying one and seeing what it does.

How do you clean the poopy diapers. Do you rinse them out first?

So when the diaper gets wet, do you change the whole diaper or just the insert?

Another question, how many would you suggest I get to be able to sustain a six month old in the picket diapers?

Have you heard anything about the brand Sunbaby for Cloth diapers?
I may have briefly heard of them, the name sounds familiar.

Devyn, How well did that #4 laundry detergent work for you? Did it make clothes smell good? I'm a sucker for good smelling stuff.
What detergent are you talking about Michelle? Lil' Outlaws? I LOVE Lil' Outlaws sooo much! The diapers smell amazing even after drying.
Are there specific brands of each style of cloth diapers that you recommend or prefer over others? Where is the best place to purchase those brands?
